Traditional metering pumps rely on check valves that can easily clog or fail, making them notoriously unreliable for ultra low-flow applications. Built on FMI’s proprietary CeramPump® technology, this system uses a single precision ceramic piston moving inside a matched ceramic cylinder to displace fluid without check valves or bypass systems.
This design eliminates the mechanical drift and pulsation common in diaphragm pumps, ensuring a highly stable flow over millions of operating cycles with a typical accuracy better than ±1% and a Coefficient of Variation (CV) of ≈ 0.5% or better.
The QG-6 drive platform is optimized specifically for ultra-low-flow operations where very fine resolution is required. Operating at a nominal drive speed of just 6 rpm, this ultra-slow rotary/reciprocating motion provides incredibly fine resolution.
When paired with the RH00 miniature pump head, the system delivers a maximum flow rate of approximately 1.92 mL/min at 100% stroke. Flow is infinitely adjustable from zero to the maximum using the Q-series “10-0-10” stroke control scale. Because the design is fully reversible, operators can seamlessly change the flow direction by simply adjusting the stroke control across the zero point on the scale.
The RH00 belongs to the FMI RH-series miniature pump head family. The wetted materials—including the ceramic piston/cylinder and the PVDF or fluoropolymer pump body—provide broad compatibility with aggressive chemicals and high-purity analytical fluids. Designed to safely handle system pressures up to 75 psig and temperatures up to 212 °C (depending on the exact body material), this robust flow path is ideal for demanding analytical environments.
Furthermore, the standard 1/4-inch shaft allows for straightforward coupling and integration into tight OEM spaces, pilot-scale systems, and analytical instruments.

Why use a metering pump that only spins at 6 rpm?
The FMI QG-6 is specifically engineered with a fixed 6 rpm low-speed drive to deliver exceptionally fine resolution at ultra-low flow rates. By moving the piston very slowly, the pump eliminates the overshoot and pulsation common in high-speed pumps, making it perfect for critical micro-reactor work and analytical sampling where sub-mL/min precision is absolutely required.
What does the FMI "10-0-10" scale do?
The "10-0-10" linear flow control scale allows operators to infinitely adjust the piston's stroke length. Setting the scale to "10" delivers maximum flow (approx. 1.92 mL/min), while setting it closer to "0" delivers micro-liter flows. Moving the indicator past the "0" mark to the other side of the scale seamlessly reverses the fluid direction without having to stop the pump or swap tubing.
What fluids can the FMI RH00 pump head handle?
The RH00 pump head features a completely nonmetallic fluid path, typically utilizing a PVDF or similar fluoropolymer body paired with a ceramic piston and cylinder. This construction provides exceptional chemical resistance, allowing it to safely dose aggressive industrial solvents, harsh acids, and high-purity analytical reagents.
