Flow Meters
Flow Meters
A flow meter measures the flow of liquids or gases, quantified as volume or mass over time. Mechanical flowmeters calculate flow like a bucket and stopwatch, while pressure based meters use Bernoulli’s principle, optical meters use light, and Coriolis meters measure mass flow via vibrating tubes. In gas chromatography, flowmeters are essential for setting and troubleshooting flows, especially in systems without electronic pressure control (EPC). Flowmeters are either volumetric or mass based. Leading manufacturers include Hewlett Packard, Humonics, Brooks Instruments, Kobold, Sensus, and ISCO.
