Laboratory Furnaces are constructed to go to higher temperatures than traditional ovens. Ovens normally only go to 250° to 400° C. To achieve higher temperatures, manufacturers use ceramic fiber insulation and embedded heating elements on top and both sides. Whether for ashing, drying, firing of coatings or for heat treating ceramics and tiles, laboratory furnaces can be used for these applications.
Types of Laboratory Furnaces
Muffle furnaces are used when high temperatures are needed- such as ignition tests, gravimetric analysis, heat treating steel parts, and other applications.
Tube furnaces are used in purifications and synthesis when rapid heating is required. Most often used in educational, industrial and governmental laboratories.
Crucible Furnaces are simple melting furnaces. Usually used to safely melt precious metals.
Vacuum Furnaces are also called Vacuum Induction Melting Furnaces. They are generally used to make superalloys- stainless steel, magnetic/battery alloys, electronic alloys are some examples.

Please specify what top temperature range you need your furnace to achieve. Higher temperature furnaces will cost more due to the difference in the material of the elements.
